Two Maids & A Mop Awards First College Scholarship

The success generated by our fast growth has created so many opportunities for our franchisees, franchise network employees and home office employees. A little over one year ago, we made a strategic decision to use our success in other ways beyond just earning profits. We wanted to give back to our communities by empowering the families of our franchise network employees. The first ever Two Maids College Scholarship was then born and a full year of applications from hundreds of people were accepted shortly after the inception of the program.

The 500+ employees working inside our franchise network have been anxiously awaiting to hear results from our initial round of applications. And just yesterday, we had the pleasure of awarding our first-ever scholarship to Megan Sandoval, the daughter of a long-time employee in Huntsville, AL.

Megan was shocked to hear the news and almost every emotion poured out once she learned of the scholarship. Local news stations heard of our story and were on-site to capture the moment when Megan received the big news. Check it out by clicking here: Two Maids Scholarship.

CEO of Two Maids & A Mop Profiled in Leading Newspaper

Ron Holt was recently interviewed by AL.com; a leading newspaper magazine representing markets throughout the state of Alabama. The interview chronicled Ron’s journey from a small startup into today’s fast-growth towards a nationally recognized brand.

“There are another 250 markets we can enter in the U.S.,” Holt said. “We’re getting close to being sold out in the southeast, but it’s wide open in the northeast and out west.” The residential cleaning service franchise already has 46 locations, which includes the corporate location in Birmingham. “We are the fastest growing residential cleaning service in the country,” he said. “When we had one store, we had the same vision and people thought we were crazy. But we believed in it then, and we believe in it now.” Those plans present a big growth curve, but Holt said he feels the company is equipped internally to make the leap. Using its on-demand scheduling, Two Maids & A Mop sees itself as a “disruptor” business, like Uber.

The Two Maids & A Mop story has been recognized by more than 50 leading publications; from CNN Money, Fox News, Forbes, Success, Yahoo News, Better Homes & Garden, Entrepreneur and Inc. Magazine. To read the entire AL.com interview, please click the following link:  Two Maids CEO Interview.

Two Maids & A Mop Featured in Franchise Business Review Magazine

Franchise Business Review, a leading magazine dedicated to the franchise industry, recently published an article detailing questions for a franchise candidate to consider when evaluating different franchise opportunities. We were honored to be included within the article and excited to share our thoughts. In our opinion, one of the least considered attributes of a franchise opportunity is its ability to compete locally. We’ve always considered our business model to be our best competitive advantage since it’s not only proven, but different. There are so many cookie cutter options in the franchise industry and Two Maids & A Mop stands out clearly as a result. From our industry-changing Pay for Performance Plan to our focus on digital marketing, we’ve never stood still for too long because innovation and disruption has always allowed us to compete against bigger brands with substantially bigger resources. This willingness to disrupt not only makes us different, it also makes us the best choice for the consumer….and ultimately the local franchisee as well.

Competitive Advantage: “Look for a franchise that offers a business model that is so remarkable that local competitors can’t compete,” says Ron Holt, CEO and Founder of Two Maids and A Mop. “In addition to identifying a proven business model that offers a unique selling proposition, look for an internal infrastructure that provides top-notch support and a profitable business plan that will enable you to achieve a healthy bottom line. Finding a franchise opportunity that meets each of these three characteristics will help ensure long-term success.” Two Maids and A Mop offers both an owner-operator and a semi-absentee owner investment model. Its owner-operators work from their respective offices, while its semi-absentee franchise owners work from their homes.

Two Maids & A Mop CEO Featured in UGA Alumni Magazine

Two Maids Home Office TeamThe Two Maids & A Mop journey from a small startup in Pensacola, FL to a fast-growing national brand with 40+ locations was recently published in the University of Georgia College of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences alumni magazine. The story traces back to our founder’s early days just after graduation from UGA with a degree in Biological Science. Ron’s story is famous because he used crazy penny-pinching methods to save money and worked odd jobs to make additional money while preparing to launch the original Two Maids & A Mop. Here’s a quick glance at the inspiring article.

“There was definitely some initial fear, nervousness and stress, but no hesitancy,” said Ron Holt. “I had a plan, and that plan couldn’t begin until I started the business.”

Holt opened Two Maids & A Mop, a residential cleaning service, in 2003 in Pensacola, Florida. The company began offering franchise opportunities across the country after building 12 corporate office locations. The company offers a competitive advantage by using a pay-for-performance model in which homeowners rate the cleaners, and ratings determine compensation.

The business now has more than 45 office locations across the nation and was on track to make $17 million in revenues for 2016.

Holt worked as an physical testing laboratory director and compares the lab to the service industry in terms of customer care. He credits his customer service skills to his work in his father’s convenience store in Colquitt, Georgia. “It was a business, but it was also like a family because my dad really cared about knowing the customers,” Holt said. “I feel the same way with our franchise owners. I want them to know we care.”

Two Maids & A Mop is proud to be a long-time member of the national nonprofit organization Cleaning For A Reason. As members, we work with cancer patients within each of our communities that we serve to provide free cleaning services to women undergoing cancer treatment. It’s a charitable service that goes deep for our brand and one that we wholeheartedly believe in its purpose. “When you’re sick, everyday tasks can be extremely difficult. For ladies trying to balance their home life, work, and cancer, it can be nearly impossible. That’s why a group, called Cleaning for a Reason, is helping women with cancer with a chore that means so much to their families, their sanity, and their overall health.

“Miss Lorraine, how are you today,” asks Two Maids & A Mop Professional House Cleaner Kate Henley.

“I’m doing good,” replies Lorraine Bollman.

Bollman battled ovarian cancer six years ago, then colon cancer. Now, the cancer is back. “I mean, I’m 87 years old. Let’s face it. You know, this is quite a deal,” says Bollman. “I had chemo a couple weeks ago, and I’m going to have it in June again.”

She’s journaling her treatment. “Got to Moffitt at 10, had blood taken. I’m real shaky today, else I’d write more,” Bollman reads. Beyond that, it’s tough to even think about housework. “If it had to be me, I wouldn’t be dusting! Definitely not. I have arthritis so bad. It was hard for me to do cleaning anyway,” says Bollman. That’s where companies like Two Maids & A Mop step in.

“It’s a great concept to be able to be a part of,” says Henley. “Chemotherapy and radiation can take a lot out of a person to be bending over, up-and-down, constantly using harsh chemicals, it can be a lot for them. It’s nice to have us come in and be able to do that,” Henley says.

Cleaning For A Reason, a nonprofit organization, teams up with companies across the country to help ease the burden for women currently undergoing cancer treatment.

“It’s a great way for someone to get their house cleaned four times, once a month for four months, and it provides stress-free relief for women who are battling cancer,” says Two Maids & A Mop Owner, Wes Kulaga. “It’s the best feeling in the world when we Clean for a Reason.

The nonprofit and local companies say until there’s a cure, there’s a reason to clean. Cleaning for a Reason reports 1,200 companies have helped more than 25,000 women with cancer, donating $6.5 million in cleanings. “It made a big difference. I was very thankful, and the girls were very, very good. They were fun to talk to also. I’m a talker,” jokes Bollman.

The companies focus on the chores, so women can fight to finish treatment and celebrate wiping out the cancer. “Well, I’m looking forward to it, looking forward to ring that bell, that’s on my bucket list,” says Bollman.

The owner of Two Maids & A Mop says surprisingly they and other companies have openings for people who could benefit from this service. Women who are actively receiving treatment for cancer can apply online by click here: Cleaning For A Reason.
