Two Maids & A Mop Founder Interviewed on Franchise Academy Podcast

Tom Scarda of The Franchise Academy sat down recently with our brand’s CEO and founder to discuss the brand’s journey from a small business into a nationally recognized consumer service franchise brand. It’s an entertaining story of true entrepreneurial drive and success.

The Two Maids & A Mop story is an American success tale comprised of multiple challenges that truly tested our founder’s resolve to keep fighting. It took Ron two years to make a profit and nearly three years to even earn a paycheck. Eventually, the Two Maids & A Mop story started to take a more profitable direction after the implementation of our now-famous Pay for Performance compensation plan. Ron remembers the first time he used this phrase to a potential customer.

“I can still recall that first call with a customer when I discussed our compensation plan. You could feel the energy level through the phone when the potential customer heard me discuss how customer feedback determines employee wages. It was at that moment where I could see the rest of my life unfolding in a much different light. Business skyrocketed immediately after the launch of the unique compensation plan and hasn’t really stopped since that fateful day”

Two Maids & A Mop Moves Up in 2020 Franchise 500 List of Best Franchises in North America

Two Maids & A Mop celebrates being ranked in the Entrepreneur Magazine list of best franchise brands to own in this year’s Franchise 500 list, ranking #210.

The franchise industry is extremely competitive and the magazine boasts that earning a spot on this year’s list more was more competitive than ever before. Entrepreneur reported: “More than 1,100 companies applied for this year’s ranking, and those that rose to the top reveal the latest trends as well as the companies that continue to evolve to keep going strong year after year.”

The Franchise 500 list analyzes five key areas of franchise brands: costs and fees, support and training, size and growth, brand strength, and financial strength and stability.

“It’s a huge honor to be included in this prestigious group of franchise brands. I can still remember the early days when we were frantically trying to build out the operating model. To see us compared to so many industry giants is an incredible piece of recognition that is attributable to our hard-working franchise owners across the country. Our franchise network is comprised of a bunch of gritty, passionate entrepreneurs that truly want to disrupt the residential cleaning industry,” said Two Maids & A Mop founder and CEO Ron Holt.

To be eligible to rank on the Franchise 500 2020 list, according to Entrepreneur, a franchisor must have been seeking new franchisees in the U.S. or Canada and must have had a minimum of 10 units open and operating as of July 31, 2019, with at least one franchise located in North America. Each eligible franchisor was scored based on more than 150 data points, and those with the highest cumulative scores became the Franchise 500.

Two Maids & A Mop Named to 2019 Franchise 500

The 2019 Franchise 500 has been released by Entrepreneur Magazine and our brand is honored to be ranked #285 in this year’s list of best franchises. Placement in the ultra-exclusive Franchise 500 is a highly sought-after honor in the franchise industry, as evidenced by the fact that Entrepreneur Magazine received more than 1,000 applications this year, making it one of the company’s most competitive rankings ever.

Two Maids & A Mop also earned the #5 ranking in the residential cleaning category. “This is an incredible honor that is a direct result of our long-term commitment to disrupting the residential cleaning industry, “said Ron Holt, CEO & Founder of Two Maids & A Mop. “The maid service industry has experienced very little change since its inception more than 30 years ago. Earning such a honorable distinction such as the Franchise 500 places us in the top 5 brands in the entire country, yet we still serve less than 100 markets across the country. The sky is the limit to our growth and our brand is excited to be a disruptive force to our industry.”

The primary factors that go into the evaluation include costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength and financial strength and stability. Each franchise is given a cumulative score based on an analysis of more than 150 data points, and the 500 franchises with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500 in ranking order.

Over its 40 years in existence, the Franchise 500 has become both a dominant competitive measure for franchisors and a primary research tool for potential franchisees.
